Email: jbecc@yahoo.com
Jennie is a 39-year-old mother of two from Queens, NY. She graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Gettysburg College and in 2003 with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College. During the interim years she lived in New York City and did stand-up comedy, improv and sketch comedy, administrative work, waited tables and worked as a camp counselor.
Immediately after receiving her degree in elementary education, she married and started a family. Her first child, a boy, was an exceptionally easy baby who led her to believe that she was a perfect parent. Her second child, a girl, was as challenging as her brother was easy. Jennie then believed she was the worst parent ever. She eventually realized that she was neither perfect nor awful. She was simply a parent. One child gave her confidence and the other gave her humility, both valuable traits for parenting.
As a stay-at-home mom Jennie spent many hours surrounded by parents and children. Over time she realized that she had a knack for problem solving parenting issues. She found that her two very different children taught her to throw judgment aside and see problems for what they are, situations that need to be looked at from different perspectives. She uses her background in sociology to examine group dynamics and her sense of humor to defuse overwrought parents. Combining her past experiences lead her to pursue a career as a coach for parents.
Jennie feels passionate about the role that parents play in the lives of their children. It may take a village to raise a child, but it all starts at home. Jennie’s goal in coaching is to help parents gain confidence in their parenting skills and work with families to see how innate personality styles and temperament play a role in family dynamics.
